We start out this week with our Morbidity and Mortality conference with Dr. Stark where she dives into a variety of cases included dog bite related infections, critical care boarding, malaria, septic bursitis, lunate dislocations, and regional wall motion abnormalities. Next, Drs. Arnold and Wilson discuss workup and management of patients with acute liver failure in the emergency department. Dr. Moulds then followed where she discussed ventricular tachycardias including Torsades de Pointes during her Taming the SRU presentation. Finally, we wrapped up the day with Dr. Kein’s R4 Case Follow Up where she discussed a patient who presented three patient cases who deserve your conservativism.

Grand Rounds Recap 11.11.20

In this jam packed week Dr. Stolz started us off with lower extremity ultrasound and the ultrasound theme continued with Dr. Skrobut’s case follow up on cardiac tamponade. Two R1s presented on transfusion reactions and septic arthritis. Our PEM colleagues discussed pediatric rashes. Finally Dr. Ryan Knight gave a Veteran’s Day special on emergency medicine in the austere environment.

Grand Rounds Recap 1.3.17

The first grand rounds of 2018 started out with an R4 Simulation that highlighted the clinical presentation, diagnosis, and management of salicylate toxicity.  This was followed by a guest lecture by Dr. Richard Sears, who discussed the benefits of wellness and mindfulness, and how we can apply them in the workplace.  Dr. Hall then went over the utility and application of various labs used to evaluate patients with sickle cell disease who present in vaso-occlusive crisis.  We then finished the conference with a case based discussion on septic bursitis led by Dr. Mike Klaszky.
