This week Dr. Kathryn Banning led us in our first Morbidity and Mortality conference of the year. Dr. Banning led us through robust discussion about concurrent pathology presentations, biases and more. Air Care Grand Rounds followed, in which we reviewed aircraft operations and logistics with the Air Care team and went through a simulation case that highlighted the importance of stress inoculation.

Welcome to another Grand Rounds Recap. This week Dr. Sayal, a visiting lecturer from North York General Hospital in Toronto, Canada, started us off with some pearls and pitfalls for the patient presenting with musculoskeletal complaints. Next up was Dr. Thompson who provided us some tips on how to prevent the most common patient and consultant complaints in the emergency department. Dr. Habib then led us through an interesting case involving an internal degloving injury. We then ended the day with small groups and a simulation led by Drs. The week started off with our AirCare team discussing indications for procedures performed pre-hospital. The AirCare team continued by taking us through several cases in our quarterly AirCare M&M. We then got some oral boards practice with Drs. McDonough and LaFollette. The day finished with a simulation led by Dr. Hill covering patients who wish to leave AMA as well as the terrifying lengthening QTc.
