As we continue our teleconferenced grand rounds, we started with a timely review of ARDS management and refractory hypoxemia with Dr. Shaw, two successful faculty guessed CPCs presented by Drs Irankunda and Pulvino and finally Dr. Jarrell gave us a much needed break with a baking show from her kitchen, with an included recipe for a mug cake!

Dr. Mand then led small group discussions about the clinical utility of the pelvic xray. This was followed by Dr. Kreitzer expertly identifying incomplete Brown-Sequard Syndrome in Dr. Banning's CPC. Dr. Liebman discussed an interesting presentation of meningitis in a pediatric patient. Finally, our PEM colleagues led case based presentations of pediatric DKA, cat scratch disease, and a simulation featuring a patient in hypothermic cardiac arrest.

In the latest installment of our Global Health lecture series, Dr. Lagasse gave us a great review on the unique uses of point of care ultrasound in a resource limited setting. Our R1 Diagnostics curriculum was continue by Dr. Gleimer who discussed the use of PFTs in the ED setting and Drs. Ham & Wright finished things up with an altered mental status CPC presentation.

Drs Goel and McKee wrapped up this week with a clinical soapbox on patient turnover and a case follow up of lytics in massive PE.

Dr. O'Brien broke down coagulopathy of liver disease and DIC for us while Dr. Golden taught us about febrile seizures. Drs. McKee and Colmer talked through the evidence behind their CPQE pathway on vent management in obstructive lung disease. Drs. Liebman and Powell went head to head in a CPC case about sternal osteomyelitis to round out another excellent week of learning.
